Thank you for visiting our website, here is a little about our history. Starting off as an occasional trading of cars from a driveway in 2010, Cubitt Cars is a business born from a love of all things automotive. Officially forming in 2019 as a limited business, the values and principles built up from a long history of chasing metal, has helped forge our (now award winning) reputation.

Sure this sounds like a trumpet blow if ever you read one, but if you do the job properly and care about the finer details, then why not shout about it!

Choosing our stock is not easy. Fortunately, gone are the days of standing in a cold auction house next to some of life's questionables, with not a sniff of moral principle. The motor trade is changing and in our opinion, it is for the better. As the job becomes more of a science and less of a lottery it means that the weeds in the industry are slowly being pulled out. Lovely.

​Below are a few examples of what makes us different. We warn you it's a bit of a read but only the tip of the iceberg! Enjoy.

I'VE HPI CHECKED IT SO I AM SAFE RIGHT?... WRONG!

HPI checks (or Hire Purchase Information as it was formally known) are a great way of finding out the history of a car. It checks a database and informs the person requesting the report if the car has been in an accident, stolen, scrapped or if there is outstanding finance associated with the vehicle.

​Great right? Well yes, sort of.

​The flaw with HPI checks is with some cars that might have been stolen or damaged but were never registered as such.

​At Cubitt Cars we take this a step further.

Our checks run above and beyond, to make sure that our customers are as safe as possible. This includes police database records, and salvage yard checks. It might cost us more, but it's totally worth it.


IT'S GOT AN MOT SO IT MUST BE PERFECT RIGHT?... WRONG

MOT's are more than just important, they are a legal requirement.

​However, they don't always tell the full story. An MOT ensures a vehicle is in a roadworthy condition. What it doesn't tell us. is how it feels to drive.

​All of the cars we sell have been road-tested to pick up on the things an MOT is not required to check.

We do this for two reasons.

We care about our stock,
We enjoy driving them.

​Although we ensure that our stock has a minimum of 6 months remaining test, our further checks ensure that if anything has been missed or has deteriorated since we can spot it. We also make sure that if a car has an MOT, that all advisories are addressed too. Just because it is a pass, doesn't mean it passes for us.

​A final point very much worth noting is that we use an independent garage for our MOTs and servicing. There is no smoke and mirrors here. We have always been cautious when buying from dealerships that have 'in-house MOT facilities'


BUCKET, SPONGE, AND WASHING UP LIQUID?... NOT ON OUR WATCH.

Sadly we live in a world where we have less and less time. As a result, hand car washes have popped up. Quick and convenient - yes.

Good for your paintwork - no.

​When car paint is neglected over a number of years it loses its original luster. ​Part of our vehicle preparation is focused on the paintwork. We use high tech machine polishing tools to remove baked-on dirt, faded paint and to bring our stock back to feeling loved again. In some cases, we will re-finish panels if needed, but usually, a couple of hours with the right equipment and some good music is all it takes.

BUT WHAT ABOUT ME?.... INTERIOR DEEP CLEAN

Using wet vacuum technology we don't stop at the outside. By injecting warm water and cleaning products into seats and carpets we can get them factory fresh again. Working with pre-owned cars sometimes we don't get to meet the previous owners, so regardless, the inside gets the same treatment as the outside.

Hopefully, this gives you an insight into what happens behind the scenes. Nobody is making us do it this way, there are no rules on how to check a car's history or how to clean a seat.
